Architecture is petrified music

Arco Otovice

On the outskirts of the village of Otovice, a locality of family houses will be created. Simple white two-storey blocks with a gable roof are stacked in nests of three. The way they are built in relation to each other ensures maximum possible privacy both inside the house and in the garden. It also ensures that the site does not give a dull, repetitive impression. Karlovy Vary is a respected town with a rich cultural and social history. And it is the personalities of the music world, famous composers and performers who have visited or stayed in Karlovy Vary that have given their name to this new project. "Architecture is petrified music." This is a quote by J.W. Goethe, who is strongly associated with the city. The houses speak a contemporary language, their form is concise, uncomplicated and unnecessary. The purity of the form is supported by a unified colour scheme, with white plaster and a light grey tin roof taking centre stage. The fencing made of wooden planks laid vertically behind each other illustrates the rural character of the whole site.
