Counters for the National Theatre

The National Theatre, a Neo-Renaissance building designed by architects Josef Zítek and Josef Schulz, has rich external and internal decoration consisting of top works by 19th century Czech artists - Mikoláš Alš, František Ženíšek, Vojtěch Hynais and Josef Václav Myslbek. Our task was to design a contemporary element into the environment of the main foyer and the foyer of the first gallery. A total of 3 bar counters, functioning as a social point, a meeting place. The bar counters, which will serve as a refreshment outlet and thus complement the social hub during theatre performances. An inset element that reflects the period of its creation in its appearance, but which also uses materials that correspond and fit appropriately with the historic interior of the building. An inserted element that does not draw too much attention to itself. Simple mass, purposeful form, material austerity
